I don't understand, what do you know about yumiko kokonae (señorita cometa)?

Hello, Israel! Thank you for stopping by. My blog is Japanese only, so you must have a hard time understanding what's going on.

Well, I work as an interpreter, and I met some people from Mexico. When I asked them who was the most famous Japanese person in Mexico, they told me that was, without any doubt, Senorita Cometa! (This TV program was aired from 1967 to 1968 in Japan.) I was amazed by the fact, and I found so many websites on Senorita Cometa in Spanish! It was funny to find out Yaeko Kokonoe was interviewed by the Mexican TV station during the World Cup Korea/Japan.

I have 4 chapters of Señorita Cometa (in Spanish!!!) and i'm waiting the fifth chapter.
It's incredible, but there ins´t more chapters and the TV Station don't continue the broadcasts about that program.
I didn't see the interview, but many friends did.
I wonder:
Why there aren't more chapters?
Why the mexican TV don't get the programs (about 70 chapters) and translate to spanish lenguage (spanish dubbing)?
I don't know!
But i'm happy because i have only very few about señorita cometa.

I can't believe I've found this page! I looked for information about "Señorita Cometa" for so long at no avail that finally I gave up. Today I started the search again and found much more info than what I got 2 years ago. I think that if the series' producers knew the big success "Señorita Cometa" had in México (and still has) they would seriously consider a re-release in VHS or DVD. That would be a guaranteed best-seller. I would definitely buy it, and I'm sure lots of people would too.

It's great to have the entry with both Spanish and English because the translation site is not always perfect.
For instance, interview of Yumiko Kokonoe by Mexican TV, I only got 60-70% of the whole story.
(of course it's better than nothing.)

I have a few things to report to you all,
so I will make a separate entry to make it clear.

I contacted the hardcore(^^) fan of Senorita Cometa, and he told me the copyright is held by

so, it is traded as the rare item in the market now.

As I noted before it's 6000yen + 750yen for shipping within Japan.
They will not ship overseas and they have a few dolls left now.

I'm not sure if I should buy this doll for anyone who eagers to get it, and send it to overseas...
because this is rather expensive item, and additional shipping fee would be more than 2,000yen by air.

This is a very very old movie, and the first film directed by the famous Japanese director, Akira Kurosawa.

It was not directed by Akira Kurosawa (but there is his version filmed in 1943) .He was the producer of this film.

The director of this 1965 film is Seiichiro Uchikawa, and I couldn't find the images of Yumiko at all.

I am a middle-aged Mexican who is also a fan of Señorita Cometa, and I believe the only way to make our dream come true of having a DVD released of the series will only be possible through organization by letting the right people know it would be profitable for them to do such thing. I loved ultraseven as a child (not to mention Señorita Comenta, Invasores del espacio y Goldar)... Remember "Los Lugones"? "uyuyuy, uyuyuy"... LOL

Funny anecdote... I was about 6 or 7 in Mexico City (I'm 37 in Monterrey now) and my dad came in with an Ultra seven mask he bought in some street corner, a cheaply made rubber band mask BUT it had a detachable "seven" on top which you could throw... needless to say... I put on the mask and proceeded to detach and throw the thingie with the well known technique and pose and to my horror it flew out the window of our 8th story appatment never to be seen again... I was crying so hard my father had to go out to find the guy who was selling them (quite a task in downtown Mexico City, especially during afternoon rush hour) to console me... poor man came back at late at night WITH the thing!! LOL... sheesh I remeber the episode because after 30 years he will not let me forget...!! LOL

By the way of Señorita Cometa... I would kill to get my hands on just three episodes (im not sure but maybe two of them are actually one)...

Señorita Cometa fué sin duda una serie de television muy especial. Me gustaria saber mas de Takeshi que ya murio, y de que murio. Que fue de el y de Koji. Ya almenos sabemos que fué de Yumiko Kokonoe. Me da mucho gusto saber que como cantante les ha ido bien a ella y su esposo. Y que fue de la abuelita ? Bueno, no creo que siga viva. Pero si alguien sabe... Informacion acerca de ellos debe de haber, la cosa es que solo en Japones. Lo cual hace la busqueda mas dificil para nosotros.

The original dubbed videotapes and film (from the seventies and sixties, respectively) of "La Señorita Cometa" were part of the invaluable collection lost at Televisa Chapultepec during the 1985 earthquake, in Mexico City. Other important programs lost include tapes of the dubbed "Ultraman y Superseven", Paco Malgesto's "Visitando a las Estrellas", Enrique Alonso's "Teatro Fantastico", and "Ensalada de Locos". Since Televisa had exclusive distribution rights of these programs, no other copies exist. The only chance of finding these programs would be in the original Japanese version, but "La Señorita Cometa" and his friends will forever live, in Spanish, in our memories.

Hey, I'd remember that "ensalada de locos" was broadcasted in 1986 in Mérida, Yucatán in a local TV Channel (also broadcast the 8th man "octavo hombre" in later 1970's). So I think that someone must have other tapes lost in somewhere. I'm searching. Televisa it's very fool! cos' if they say that have the rights... why don't broadcast it?! The tapes are not piracy cos' the original tapes no longer exist... so i'm happy see Señorita Cometa.

Alguien menciona que la calidad de los videos de "anime-en-linea" no es muy buena, podria alguien que los tenga calificarlos del 1 al 10?

A mi tambien me gustaria comprarlos en version Japonesa con subtitulos o de preferencia en español, pero todos los latinoamericanos sabemos que las compañias como Televisa, no lo permitiran legalmente. Habra que buscar en Tepito, no? Saben que dificil fue encontrar "Rojo Amanecer" en video? y hasta ahora, no he podido encontrar ni una version de "Solo con tu Pareja", a pesar de que es una muy buena pelicula.

Para los que tienen DirecTV, o satelite, hay un canal en EEUU, de Cartoon Network. El canal se llama Boomerang, y pasan los episodios de Don Gato, la Hormiga Atomica, el Inspector Ardilla y muchos mas. Los pasan en ingles, pero con la posibilidad de cambiar el track en español. Ahh, que recuerdos.....

Thanks Rumi for allowing us Cometa fans to rant about what we can't buy now that we can afford it.

Somebody mentioned that the videos from "anime-en-linea" are not very good quality. Can somebody that owns them rate them? 1-10 maybe?

I would like to own the series, as close to the original as possible, but everybody from Latin America knows that companies like Televisa won't allow that legally.

For those that have DirecTV, you can watch Boomerang (from Cartoon Network) for some of those old shows we grew up with.

My father said me that in 70's the cartoons and tv series only exist in film (not in magnatic tape), so when the TV station boadcast any program the worker used any projector to project the image on a cinema screen and captured it using a video camera. Then it's difficult that we found the series in magnetic tape, and it explains because the chapters saled by "anime en linea" are in black and white and not in color.
Probably some copies were made in b/w film. And I remember that in Yucatan was a TV Station broadcasting in B/W (terrible but very interesant). I searching people that work in that station and another that broadcasted "señorita Cometa" for information. Sorry my english it's not good.

Habia otros, como el de los pescados voladores o como el de la pelotita que hacia a Kogi malo, que pasaban a cada rato. Otra idea: la cancion que yo me acuerdo como el tema principal la cantaba ella en japones. Empezaba con algo como "Ina ja nejashi nejei". Saben si esta cancion esta en alguno de los CDs que venden?

Al parecer, en la entrada de la serie, donde aparecen los créditos iniciales, hubo dos diferentes canciones.

Los episodios de Cometa que ví en la tele, los pasaron a mediados de los 70's por el canal 5 de Televisa, y todos estos capítulos eran a colores, nunca ví que pasaran algún capítulo de "Señorita Cometa" a blanco y negro.

En todos estos capítulos el tema principal era uno solo y es el del que me acuerdo.

En Yahoo Groups existe un club de fans de esta serie inolvidable, en la sección de archivos "Files" yo puse tres canciones de Cometa, una de ellas es el tema principal. Este es el nombre del archivo:

El pasado domingo, en una exposición de manga y anime en Mérida, tuvimos la oportunidad de conversar con un par de personas dedicadas al doblaje español de las series japoneses, el cual se hace en la Cd. de México.
Uno de ellos me comentó que desde el año pasado se viene doblando en Televisa la serie de Señorita Cometa con nuevas voces, aunque esto no ha sido confirmado oficialmente. Según parece la misma persona que hace la voz del personaje "burbuja" en la serie conocida en español como "chicas superpoderosas" hará la voz de Cometa.
Lamentablemente no hay mucho apoyo de la juventud a las series de antaño, eso pude ver, pues tuve la oportunidad de conversar con unos japoneses (en español, claro) y ellos casi no la conocen.
Bueno esa es mi noticia.
Chicos y chicas, crucemos los dedos, para que veamos de nuevo la serie aunque sea con nuevas voces.
Ojalá el doblaje no termine siendo un fracaso como ocurrió con la serie "Remi", ya que el nuevo trabajo no tuvo tanta aceptación como el hecho anteriormente.

!Como extrano a la senorita Cometa!Sin duda alguna la mejor serie japonesa que se exhibio en Mexico. Desgraciadamente es muy dificil conseguir la serie completa pero hay una tienda de anime en el web llamada "Tu tienda anime" (desgraciadamente no recuerdo la direccion, pero la pueden encontrar facilmente en google)la cual vende unos capitulos en vcd con el doblaje realizado en Mexico para Latinoamerica.

No saben la nostalgia que me invadio en cuanto supe de la fama aun hoy dia de la Señorita Cometa. Soy machin tengo 41. Me cay. Pero hasta ganas de llorar tengo por la imposibilidad de volver a ver el programa. Supe que Takeshi habia muerto hace como dos años (no se quien me lo dijo). Es cierto esto?. Most of items are treated as rare goods since the program aired almost 40 years ago in Japan.
But you might want to try "mandarake" or "manga-no-mori"
where you can find many Japanese manga and animation items.

I am so happy to have found this site (blog). I also grew up wth Senorita cometa in south Texas as a kid. I am in Japan and taking this for action. I am going to search for this DVD/VCD somehow, somewhere and someway. I have asked my japanese co workers to assist me. They too saw this as youngsters. I'll post any results.

Si los adultos veían en las noches en el canal 2 a “Colorina” de Lucia Méndez, o a Dallas en el canal 5, nosotros veíamos a la Señorita cometa en las tardes.
escuche muchas veces decir a los ya grandes: “las caricaturas son para niños”.... y si es así!, que era la señorita cometa??, porque de hecho ella en realidad es una chica del mundo de las caricaturas, y aunque fue convertida en una chica de carne y hueso, seguramente donde quiera que este, su alma aun es de caricatura. Varias veces aparecieron algunas partes de animaciones en este programa!. que cosa mas extraña esta!!, para mi fue el primer programa que no era de caricaturas, (o no completamente), que me había capturado como por arte de magia, era acaso el intermedio o el paso entre ser niño para comenzar a ser adolescente?, no lo se! Yo en aquel tiempo abre tenido 5 o 6 años, incluso una parte de mi aun esta en esa edad gracias a ese programa, y me gusta que así sea, porque de niño uno puede aburrirse tremendamente, por momentos sentía que iba a desaparecer de tanto aburrimiento, pero después de ver los divertimentos de Coyi y Takeshi, como no me iba a inspirar al comenzar a jugar con mi propia imaginación!!

La verdad no recuerdo mucho, pero las cosas que no olvido de esta serie, están tatuadas en mi alma, y afortunadamente con la ayuda de todos los que platican al respecto, puedo ampliar mis memorias. Sensaciones extrañas, parpadeos raros en la mente, son algunas de las cosas que me pasan, cuando remuevo recuerdos hondos que se entrelazan a la señorita cometa y a situaciones que se daban por aquellos tiempos, la señorita cometa es el centro de todo el asunto, me ayuda a hilar lo que pasaba en mi vida en aquel entonces!!!

I grew up in Mexico City and during my childhood, as many other Mexican children, I enjoyed watching my favourite TV series: "Señorita Cometa" (Miss Comet). Recently I wrote to a Japanese friend about this TV series. She was surprised to know that Komettosan was broadcasted in other countries beside Japan. Komettosan was also her favourite TV program, therefore, I asked her to write the song for me, she did but she forgot some parts of the song and she suggested trying to find the song lyrics in the Internet. I did so and fortunately I found your website. It was a nice surprise knowing that many people carry the sweet memories of Komettosan in their hearts as me.

I could say that Komettosan influenced my life in a profound and lasting way. Since my childhood I remained interested in Japan and its culture. Some years ago I took some Japanese courses with the purpose of visiting Japan some day. Surprisingly, in one of them, I discovered that some classmates were studying Japanese just because they were also influenced by the same TV program. Now, I love to make Japanese friends whenever an opportunity presents itself. Also my favourite nickname that I use in chats and forums is Chibigon.

Hello, my name is Daniel, I live in Mexico City and I'm another big fan of Kometto-San TV show. It's an important part of my childhood memories.

I have 4 B&W chapters but I feel that it's not enough. I remember chapters such as Nyantaro cat, and the one in which Koji and Takeshi's toys come alive, they are great!!!

I hope that someday I can buy Kometto-San TV show on DVD (or VHS, whatever), and I appreciate that you could keep me informed about it.

In Japan, original Comet-san will be aired from September 5th on cable TV.

I watched the original Cometa during my childhood in the 70's and yes, as many more here, I was in love with her... anyway, I now watch the new version of Cometa on mexican tv channel 4 every saturday at 8:30; not the same, but it is fun. Even my young boy, who's 3 years old, watches it with me!!.

I'm subscribed to Comet-san Yahoo Group (http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/senorita_cometa/), and our goal is to have the 79 chapters of the series, unfortunately the show is not broadcasted anymore in Mexico.

Someone told me that the original Comet-san show is going to be broadcasted in Japan by September.

I was wondering if you or someone else could record the chapters and we would pay for the material, shipping and of course for your time.

If you could do that we would thank you forever and ever, and we'd recover some part of our childhood.
